I think my favorite part of Valencia was the diversity it has – modern, old, beach, and countryside. It has everything!
Valencia is a newer city in Spain and a lot of the buildings and architecture seems super modern. The science and art center is a cluster of very modern looking buildings. There is an “old town” as well that has typical Spanish characteristics and the city is on the beach. The weekend I visited (the first weekend in November) the weather was just starting to turn into fall so it dropped a few degrees and was not exactly beach weather. I still got to enjoy some beach time and see a sunset! I missed the feel of the salty air. Valencia is surrounded by countryside filled with amazing hiking and surprisingly enough – vineyards! I spent one of the days touring the country side and after driving only an hour and a half outside the city it felt like I was in a completely different world! Valencia is known for their beaches, paella, and the architecture of the City of Arts and Sciences (I mentioned this above), which was designed by Santiago Calatrava and Félix Candela.
Old town Valencia
Snapped this photo in "Mercado Central" a massive indoor market where you can get fresh produce, meats, and fish! Lots of interesting products and smells..lol
The above 4 photos were all taken at the the City of Arts and Sciences. It is a huge space surrounded by a park that goes throughout the entire city!
Beach side sunset!
Caught another sunset at the rooftop bar at Barceló Hotel!
Always take the road less traveled.. I love this motto and think its really fitting for my non-traditional lifestyle. I wouldn't have it any other way.
I LOVE the countryside. We pulled over to take photos of these lovely tree groves.
And then we found some vineyards! MY FAVORITE!
Cofrentes, a small pueblo outside of Valencia with lots of hiking and nature to enjoy.
The above photos are all from surrounding areas of Cofrentes. It was completely isolated and there was not a soul in sight. Very peaceful and it felt amazing to reconnect to nature.
