Ronda is a peaceful, unspoiled, historic town that dramatically rests on the top a cliff. It is the perfect place for the tranquila/o (calm) traveler who doesn't like to have a schedule or use a map. Abundant with history, there is plenty to discover. The energy of the town brought a peacefulness to my journey and I don't think I worried about one thing for the two days I spent there. I wandered and let the streets and locals unfold the path for me. For those of you who know me, you know that I have been living abroad in Granada, Spain for the past 5 months during the pandemic. Travel has been very limited but borders within Andalucía have opened up a few times and a few weeks ago I took advantage of the open borders and traveled to Ronda in Malaga for 2 days. Ronda is normally a sough-after tourist destination, but I had the town to myself - which was happy and sad. Happy because there were no crowds and sad because of the circumstances that made it that way. The city is unbelievably walkable and you can see the main attractions on foot within one day, but after two days I was left wanting to stay longer. The setting of rolling Andalucian hills and surrounding countryside, along with the hospitality of the locals, give it the inviting feeling of a small town. One of my dreams in life is to have a piece of land, with animals and self sustainability - so I am always looking at prospects for future homes - Ronda and the surrounding lands are now on my list :)
I also made a little video from some video footage I took on the trip - this was a first for me! (making the video, not taking footage) here is the link:
Puente Nuevo, the famous bridge in Ronda that brings tourists from all over the world to view it in awe. I walked by (and across) the staggering bridge at least 5 times during my two days in Ronda and each time it left me speechless. The restaurant/ bar you can see on the right of the bridge was one of my favorite spots- Hotel Don Miguel. There I enjoyed a few glasses of wine that was made by a small local winery. I could have easily spent an entire afternoon sitting on that patio admiring the view.
